I take pride in being quite knowledgeable about the old pro wrestling. So, you can imagine my surprise (and great delight) when I came across the following bout by accident; I hadn't heard of Nelson Royal before. I personally think Nelson (the one in blue trunks) is a beautiful wrestler. How I wish this kind of wrestling still exists today.

Nelson was an amazing wrestler to watch. He was always aggressive in his matches. I loved watching him and try to emulate him.

The guy has a bald patch but is man enough to show it. Male beauty - disappears when the male concerned becomes aware of it

The beautifying of men seems to be a phenomenon that comes and goes. The 18th century Dandies. The aesthetes of the early 20th Century. The New Romantics of the 1980s. It seems to accompany moments of social and sexual freedom

British wrestling today seems to be scratching its head and struggling to decide whether to head in the direction of lush camp, or the hardened fighter. Wearing trunks and boots is a fine line to walk between the two.
