Boxing and wrestling and BJJ in Sitges

For those of you who visit Sitges from time to time (and I know that quite a few of you do) you might like to know that there is a martial arts club at the back of town that provides coached boxing and wrestling sessions as well as BJJ classes. It's behind the fire station and across the road from the police station. An easy walk from the town center.

I was there last week and they were happy to let me in to a couple of boxing training sessions and a sparring group, both on a pay-per-use basis (12 Euros a go). Not at all bad too. The floor was a bit over-padded for good footwork but the coach knew his stuff and the sparring pairs were sensibly chosen. Made for a nice way to keep fit during an otherwise slobbed out beach and food fest.

As I was leaving I noticed the freestyle wrestling group warming up. Can't tell you more about that as I didn't have a go, other than to say that all the groups, including the wrestling class, are mixed and tend to be made up of younger people. But that is no reason not to go in for a bit of coaching. I was made to feel very welcome.

There's something nice about taking your boxing gear on holiday. Maybe it's just a universal community. Have gloves (and gumshield), will travel. I'm going to Madrid in a few weeks. Kind of hoping to check out one of the clubs there.

I'm mindful of not breaching the rules against commercial activity here. If you want to know more, private me.

If anyone knows of other good clubs in Europe where casual users are welcome (I.e. without needing a membership) it woukd be great to hear of them.

Excellent, IronBull. But I cannot get the checkmark above to work.

Is it the norm for BJJ clubs to have boxing and wrestling sessions—either independent or in conjunction with BJJ training?

It's a martial arts club that has different disciplines. A bit like the London Fight Factory

Not really. It's friendly and inclusive of and gay friendly in equal measure. It's just a good local martial arts club that emphasises boxing wrestling and bjj
